What the badges mean
Every fund on ReturnKoto? carries a few small badges. Each one marks data quality, dividend treatment, Shariah status, or fund type.
Data-confidence badges
These describe the quality of the data behind a fund’s return figure, not whether the fund itself is good or bad.
✓ AMC-Verified A real collaboration with the AMC
The AMC-Verified badge is shown only after ReturnKoto? and that asset manager spoke directly through official channels, went through a detailed discussion of the fund’s figures, and reached a shared understanding of what appears on the site. It marks a real collaboration, not just that ReturnKoto? scraped public pages. The fund page also carries an animated checkmark beside the name. Most funds do not carry this badge yet.
estimated Anchored to official figures
The asset manager does not publish year-by-year dividend records for this fund. Instead of guessing, ReturnKoto? anchors the return to the fund’s own officially published total-return figures and works backwards to a consistent dividend assumption.
Open “How we got this number” on the fund’s page to see the exact basis used. The figure is faithful to what the manager itself reports, but the year-by-year path is smoothed.
partial Incomplete dividend records
ReturnKoto? could verify the fund’s NAV history, but its dividend records are incomplete. Every dividend that could be verified is reinvested; anything unverifiable is simply left out.
That makes the error one-sided: the true total return may be slightly higher than shown, never lower. We prefer under-promising to inventing figures.
Dividend badge
+ dividends Cash dividends, reinvested by default
The fund pays meaningful cash dividends, and they are reinvested by default in the figures on the site (switch any figure to taken as cash to pocket them instead). This is why ReturnKoto? numbers are total returns, not just price changes.
On income funds, cash dividends often dominate total return; a price-only chart understates them.
Shariah badge
SHARIAH Certified Shariah-compliant
The fund is certified Shariah-compliant and runs under a Shariah supervisory board that screens what it may invest in.

Fund-type badges
Every fund is one of three types. Results on the homepage are ranked within each type, because comparing a stock-heavy fund against a deposit-heavy one is not a fair race.
Growth Equity-leaning, higher risk
Growth funds put most of their money in listed stocks. They aim for higher long-term returns and swing harder in both directions along the way.
Balanced Mixed, middle of the road
Balanced funds hold a mix of stocks and fixed income. They give up some upside for a smoother ride.
Income Bond and deposit-leaning, lower risk
Income funds lean on bonds, deposits and other fixed-income instruments. Returns are steadier and much of the return is paid out as cash dividends.
Do not take any type label on faith: every fund’s page has a verified holdings panel built from the asset manager’s own portfolio statement, so you can see the actual asset mix, sectors and top holdings behind the badge.
Where the numbers behind the badges come from
NAV history: each fund’s own asset manager’s website is checked first for the latest published NAV, with a secondary data source as the fallback and the source of the longer historical NAV series. Every fund page shows its latest NAV date and source right under the stat boxes.
Dividends: only officially published dividend records are used. Where an asset manager shares verified payment dates we reinvest on those dates; otherwise each year’s dividend is reinvested in its payout season, modeled at October of the dividend year.
Fees and fund details: read from each fund’s BSEC-approved prospectus.
Holdings: extracted from the asset managers’ own portfolio statements and cross-checked so the pieces add up.
